All About Me

Hello and thanks for visiting!  This is all the boring information that you could do without.  My real name is Rebecca, but PLEASE call me Becca.   I have many interests, including reading and playing cards and scrabble.    I am 25 years old, married, and a college graduate of Catawba Valley Community College. I spend a lot of time studying hard since I returned to school of another degree.  I have been a fan and have dearly loved Babylon5 and ER since they first aired.  I am also a burn survivor

(My mother always said I had a sick sense of humor)

Let me introduce my wonderful family!  As you will notice as you meet the family, if you click on any of the names that are underlined, it will take you directly to their web site if they have one.  First, I would like you to meet my 14 year old sister, Nikki.  She is a very smart, beautiful young lady (and only I or other family members can say she is pretty too; got to watch out for all those weirdos out there you know) and she DOES have a boyfriend! Nikki went on her first date in February.  I was extremely proud to be there and watch my little sister become a young woman!  Secondly, I will introduce my mom.  She is the most beautiful and courageous person in the world. Mom is 43 years old.  She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1999 Magna Cum Laude and departmental High Honors.  She is now attending the University of South Carolina in Columbia to pursue her master's degree in Sociology.  Now let's introduce you to my stepfather David.  Mom met him on mIRC.   For all you nontechies out there, mIRC is a chat client where you can go to meet and talk to persons all over the world.  I must admit my skepticism when they first meet, but he has turned out to be a truly wonderful man and an even better stepfather than any of my other step dads.  Mom and David were married on Folly Beach in Charleston, SC on July 18, 1998.    Robert, my husband, is next up to bat (so to speak.)  Robert plays chess online alot and plays in USCF tournaments around here.  He recently participated in a USCF tournament in Gastonia, NC and came in first place!  And last but CERTAINLY not least is my daughter Monica.  She is a beautiful and wonderful child.  I love her dearly, but she seems to have skipped the terrible 2's & 3's, went through horrible 4's, the  independence declaring 5, and now the "I know it all" 6's!  Now that you have met the family, don't forget to check our family pictures and my memorial to my grandparents.

As I stated before, I love to play cards in my spare time, when I have some that is. I like to play spades and hearts mainly.  I also love playing Literita, which is like a version of Scrabble on the Yahoo! games server.

I am an observer of the gothic. I, myself, do not proclaim to be a vampire, werewolf, nor witch. I am only a spectator and am fascinated by those things considered gothic and have been every since I was 11 years old. What started my fascination? I haven't a clue, but I think it was due to a video I bought entitled "Dance of the Damned". It, to me, provided more insight to the true nature of a vampire.  I like all vampire movies except for a few exceptions, and I really have enjoyed all of the Howling movies.

I love to read. My favorite writer is Mary Higgins Clark (Till We Meet Again).  I love the style she uses in many of her novels.  She writes mystery thriller/fiction novels.  I also like to read Anne Rice when I get the chance.  I have read most of the vampire chronicles and one day would like to finish them.  One problem I have with Anne Rice is I get lost so easily cause I put the book down for too long and forget what I was reading to begin with and have to re-read all the previous material.  Actually, I just finished Queen Of The Damned (the third chronicle) so I am a lot closer now than I have ever been.  I would LOVE to one day read the witches chronicles, but first my goal is to get through the vampire chronicles.

Ok, a little more boring trivial insight about me. I graduated from Gaston College Adult High School, June 1993 in Lincolnton, North Carolina. Then I attended  Catawba Valley Community College  for one year.  After which, I attended Lenoir-Rhyne College for 2 years trying to find my interest.  I started out as an Education major, then I changed to Chemistry, but there was one major flaw of L-R.....my mother also attended college there.  (One piece of advise, never go to the same college your mother does at the same time. That is just asking for trouble!)  After leaving L-R, I transferred to University of North Carolina @ Charlotte pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry.  I truly believe that was the worst and also best mistake of my life!  The college was so big, you were not a person to them, but rather a number, and to their defense, some people like that.  I, unfortunately, was not one of those people.  After 1 year of flunking out of the chemistry classes, I decided it was time to try something else only to fail again. I chose to try my luck in Sociology, but that didn't work out too well either.  (As you can tell, I believe that I was not meant to be in the university.)  So, I quit UNCC and took half a year off.  I re-enrolled to CVCC August 1998 and begin my pursuit there as an Information Systems major. I was SO happy with the courses and that I was doing very well there. In fact, my first semester there I made straight A's!!! I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society on December 7th, 1998.  That had been the GREATEST accomplishment in my college career for me especially after flunking out at UNCC.  Phi Theta Kappa is a international honor society established for two-year community colleges for students with a 3.25 GPA or higher.  Also, I was inducted into Gamma Beta Phi on February 12, 1999.  Gamma Beta Phi invites only students who are in the top 20% of their class.  In the Fall 1999 semester, I changed my major to Network Administration and Support.  I have learned all the in's and out's of CISCO, Novell Netware, and Windows NT/Server/Workstations. I did extremely well and was actually happy and content for once in my life.  (I finally figured out what I want to be when "I Grow Up.") On May 20, 2000, I was nominated by my peers to be President of Gamma Beta Phi for the 2000-2001 year. FINALLY, after 8 long years in the making, I graduated from CVCC with a A.A.S. in Information Systems: Network Administration and Support on May 11th, 2001. (Check out my pictures of graduation!)  I was so excited the entire night that I never stopped smiling!

On June 30th, 2000 I was burnt in a grease fire. It has taken its toll and I am rebuilding my life. If you would like to read more about it, please check out my site "My Life As A Burn Survivor."  In case there are younger people reading this, I advise you to enter that site with a strong stomach.  Some of the pictures are very grotesque and all are very graphic.

So I guess I am done boring you now! Thanks for dropping by and please feel free to  email with your comments anytime and suggestions.   Till we meet again.... :)
